The public is invited to a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the grand re-opening of one of Cincinnati's oldest parks.
Hopkins Park, at Auburn and Dorchester avenues (BIRD'S EYE), now has a new overlook area, a new plaza, and improved landscaping, benches, game tables, and lighting.
Expanded play areas were created through extensive terracing of the hilly site.
Funding for the project was made available through a $500,000 National Park Service Urban Parks and Recreation Recovery Program grant and a $200,000 Cincinnati Park Board match.
Graeter's will be offering free ice cream, and God's Bible School and College will provide the music.
The 0.895-acre tract for Hopkins Park was donated to the City by Lewis C. Hopkins in 1866.
The last renovation to the park occurred in 1971.
