After being in use for more than 30 years, Kennedy Heights is ready to retire its yin-yang logo.
With funding help from the City of Cincinnati, the neighborhood will be installing new identification signs along its points of entry.
As part of the design phase, an ad hoc committee created by the Kennedy Heights Community Council (KHCC) is seeking public input for a positive and unique neighborhood image via a downloadable survey (PDF).
The committee wants several elements incorporated into the new design:
* The legacy of the yin-yang symbol
* The idea of unity and inclusion
* The current energies from the local arts, churches, schools, development efforts and natural beauty
* Simplicity and adaptability
* Vibrancy and color
* Awareness of safety, walkability and friendliness to business
A fourth workshop is tentatively scheduled for this spring, after which formal recommendations will be presented to the KHCC.
The new signs will be designed and installed by the end of the year.
A majority of Kennedy Heights residents attending public meetings in September, December and early February supported the change.
Completed surveys can be mailed to the KHCC office at 6463 Kennedy Avenue, Cincinnati, OH, 45213.
