Five Neighborhood Business District Support Fund (NBDSF) requests for the first quarter of 2008 have been submitted to Cincinnati City Council by City Manager Milton Dohoney Jr.
The requests are for the following:
* Kennedy Heights Community Council: $9,000 for a monthly newsletter, a business directory, new wayfinding signs, a community phone line, beautification and four inscribed bowls for their "citizens of the year"
* Mount Lookout: $9,000 for beautification and for Luminaria supplies
* Roselawn: $9,000 for operations of the police substation, a website upgrade, maintenance and repair of community assets, beautification, a business directory, business training and meetings, and a possible large community event
* DeSales Corner: $3,000 to pay property taxes for parking lots on Woodburn Avenue
* Central Vine Street Business Association (OTR): $600 for organizational development and Cincinnati Neighborhood Business Districts United dues
These funding requests are currently under consideration in council's Vibrant Neighborhood, Environment and Public Services Committee.
The NBDSF, which is budgeted through the City's Department of Community Development, provides up to $10,000 for general improvement projects to each of 34 recognized neighborhood business districts.
The program is administered through Invest in Neighborhoods, Inc. and submissions are collected on a quarterly basis.
