The Manuel D. & Rhoda Mayerson Jewish Community Center is quickly taking shape and is on schedule to open on Labor Day.
The 140,000-square-foot center, which will be open to the entire community, is being built on the Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati campus at 8485 Ridge Road (BIRD'S EYE).
The $40 million building, which is being financed through a capital campaign, will include:
* An early childhood school
* A senior center
* A day camp
* An 800-seat auditorium and theater
* A cafe and kosher kitchens
* A 12,000-square-foot indoor waterpark
* An outdoor pool
* A fitness center and studios
* A gymnasium
* An indoor track
* A computer center
* Program rooms and public meeting places
The Jewish Community Center expects that the building will be used as a model by mid-sized cities throughout the country.
The current center on Montgomery Road in Silverton will close, and its programs will be transferred to the new site.
