CityKin: End of Sprawl Debate

Mike at the CityKin blog has posted a link to a Washington Post opinion piece by Eduardo M. Peñalver about the housing downturn, higher gas prices, and the possible end of American-style sprawl.

Mike offers some adecdotal evidence about homebuilders he knows who have reached the conclusion that they can no longer afford to build in the suburbs.

But more specifically, he examines the relationship between possible outcomes in living patterns and finds that, possibly, the falling housing market may not result in a return to the city but may only deter people from moving at all.
