Freestore applies for more demo permits

The Freestore Foodbank has applied for permits to demolish two Over-the-Rhine buildings and one is the West End as part of a larger plan it has for the area.

Permits for the demolition of 1630 Walnut Street, 104 Corwine Street and 1141 Central Parkway are currently being processed.

The warehouse building at 1630 Walnut Street will be demolished for a 21-space surface parking lot, and 104 Corwine Street will become an 8-space surface parking lot.

In the future, several other buildings are scheduled to be removed for surface parking and access for tractor trailers.

A review of the entire Freestore plan by the City's Historic Conservation Board is tentatively scheduled for January 28, and it's unlikely that the permits will be issued before then.

1141 Central Parkway (aka 315 W Twelfth Street), a 35,000-square-foot office building that was built in 1971, is located outside of the Over-the-Rhine Historic District and will likely be demolished sooner.

No plans for that site have been announced.
